Knutsford Heritage Centre is delighted to be staging the special Knutsford's Crowning Glory exhibition celebrating the town's 150th May Day.
The exhibition features crowns, gowns, memorabilia and memories from May Queens down the years.
Visitors will be able to trace the history of May Day, learn about its customs, and watch video screenings of May Day processions.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 29 March and runs until Sunday 29 June. Entry is free but donations are very welcome.
The centre has chosen the photograph (top right) of Doris Pemberton, the 50th May Queen who was crowned in 1914, to represent the exhibition. This is particularly poignant as we commemorate the start of the First World War in 2014. Our thanks to the family for allowing us to use the image.
