In 2024, Val Byrant is stepping down as Manager of Knutsford Heritage Centre. We are looking for a new volunteer to take over and help lead the next chapter of the Knutsford Heritage Centre story.

This is a unique opportunity to help lead a vibrant Heritage Centre with a volunteer front of house team, ensuring high standards in customer care and visitor experience. You will oversee the everyday operation of the centre and help ensure its continued success and vitality, working with a dedicated team of trustees and volunteers.

Role - Volunteer Coordinator
Reports To - Board of Trustees
Works with - Volunteers, Trustees, and Knutsford Town Council
Location - Knutsford Heritage Centre, 90a King Street, Knutsford.WA16 6ED
Commitment - Approx. 10 hrs per week

About the Role

In this role you will:

• Attend monthly Board meetings with the Trustees
• Work with the Trustees to develop and implement the Heritage Centres aims and objectives to full fill the Heritage Centre’s Business Plan
• Hold monthly meetings with the volunteers and team leaders for varied sections including Administration, Shop,  Archives and Collections, Garden, Walks and Talks,
  Exhibitions and Website
• Hold responsibility for management, recruitment, induction, training and retention of volunteers
• Oversee volunteer shift bookings and ensure maximum coverage
• Assist with the set up and delivery of events including exhibitions which may include research and construction of historical displays
• Liaise with the Friends of Knutsford Heritage Centre fundraising activities

The ideal candidate will:

• Have qualifications and/or work experience in a relevant field
• Have previous experience of managing volunteers, working in a retail environment, managing exhibitions and/or working in a heritage/museum environment
• Be a natural people person with excellent spoken and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills
• Have vision to proactively drive the continual improvement of the Heritage Centre
• Have strong IT skills
