Knutsford Heritage Centre offers an excellent educational programme for schools at both primary and secondary level and strives to present learning material in a fun and rewarding way that also meets curricular demands. We have a dedicated Education team of volunteers, some of us ex-teachers; we offer workshops to enhance the curriculum using our artefacts, archives and collections to bring subjects to life. Children are accompanied on discovery tours in the streets of Knutsford.
We like to work round the various exhibitions which run throughout the year, to help children understand and enjoy their local heritage, as well as looking further afield, for example the role of Knutsford during the Second World War. Recent schools which have visited us are.
Knutsford High School
Bexton Primary School
Manor Park Primary School
Lower Peover Primary School
We can visit your school to discuss how your class might benefit from a visit to Knutsford Heritage Centre; tailoring a workshop to suit busy teachers. Please ring 01565 650506 or email email@example.com for further information. We look forward to seeing you.
24 Apache Beavers of the 5th K’ford Scout Group took a walk with a difference around the town last Tuesday evening for their ‘Exploring Activity Badge’. They were guided by volunteers from the KHC.
In a ‘whistle-stop’ tour, the boys managed to fit in many of the town’s landmarks, some of its famous people and the kinds of detail boys enjoy: prison and punishments, battles and highwaymen and, of course, ‘privies’.
Everyone enjoyed themselves and, what’s more, the sun shone!
“Please pass on our huge thanks to Caroline and Angela for doing such a great job with the Apache Beavers from Knutsford 5th last night. All the Beavers had a great time and got a lot out of the tour and I think it planted a seed for further knowledge about the town where they live. We were also very lucky with the weather!”

Throughout the year, Knutsford Heritage Centre organises events which we hope will introduce children to the heritage and history of the town in a fun and enjoyable way. Below are just a couple of examples of the events we have organised in the past.
